Shree Balmukunda School

At the heart of every thriving community is access to quality education, and one of our current projects brings us to Shree Balmukunda Basic School, located in Unnyuchaur, Ward No. 02, within Mahankal Rural Municipality in South Lalitpur, Nepal. This school serves as a vital learning center for children in the surrounding rural community, providing education from play group through grade 8.

Shree Balmukunda Basic School is currently home to 75 students and is supported by a dedicated team of 10 staff members who work diligently to educate and care for their students. Despite their commitment, the school’s existing infrastructure is limited and does not fully support the growing needs of its students. Classrooms are overcrowded or insufficient, and the lack of proper facilities makes it challenging to create an effective and safe learning environment.

To meet these needs, the school requires the construction of a new building that includes five classrooms with a concrete roof. This structure will provide students with a secure and weather-resistant space where learning can take place without disruption. In addition, age-appropriate desk and bench furniture is needed so students of all grade levels can learn comfortably and with dignity, creating an atmosphere that encourages focus and engagement.

Beyond the physical classrooms, the school also lacks access to essential learning resources such as a computer lab and a library. These spaces would play a critical role in expanding students’ educational opportunities by introducing digital literacy, improving research skills, and fostering a love for reading. Access to technology and books helps prepare students for future academic success and broadens their understanding of the world beyond their community.
